Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, with a focus on regional stability, economic integration, and strategic partnerships.
According to a statement issued by his office on Sunday, February 1, 2026, the visit highlights Kenya’s commitment to deepening diplomatic engagement within the Horn of Africa and advancing shared priorities with key international partners.
During the visit, Mudavadi is scheduled to hold high-level bilateral talks with Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Timothewos.
The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing regional cooperation, promoting shared economic interests, and reinforcing collaboration on peace and security issues affecting the Horn of Africa and the wider continent.
Officials said the meeting will also address mechanisms for strengthening regional stability through coordinated diplomatic and development initiatives, reflecting the central role both Kenya and Ethiopia play in regional and continental affairs.
In addition to his engagement with Ethiopian authorities, Mudavadi is set to meet the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Yvette Cooper.
The talks will review progress under the Kenya–UK Strategic Partnership and explore opportunities to further expand cooperation.
The discussions with the UK are expected to focus on key areas including trade and investment, climate action, security cooperation, innovation, and sustainable development.
The engagement reflects the growing scope and maturity of relations between Kenya and the United Kingdom, as both countries seek to deepen collaboration on shared global and regional challenges.
Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, Mudavadi was received by Kenya’s Head of Mission in Ethiopia, Ambassador Galma M. Boru, alongside Deputy Head of Mission Ambassador Petronila Were. Minister Counsellor Kevin Thuo was also present.
Addis Ababa hosts the African Union headquarters and serves as a major diplomatic hub for Africa, making the visit significant in the context of Kenya’s broader foreign policy objectives.
The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary said the visit highlights Kenya’s continued commitment to strong diplomatic partnerships, regional integration, and collaborative solutions designed to promote shared prosperity, peace, and stability across Africa and beyond.
